It tried another dpf generation and that was marked as failed. Soot level in dpf around 20g. There was one fault code, dtc253f29 permanent, engine oil quality. Would that prevent dpf regeneration? Other than that, could it just be that the dpf is knackered and won't regenerate any longer, ie it needs changing?

There is no fault code but since last June the car has been rough on idle and sometimes noticeable under load and is about 10/15% down on economy. I recently (2 months) bought a Grand Scenic 1.6 dCi (R9M engine) from the auctions (I know I know, big mistake!) with 78,000 miles on the clock (ex pch). I noticed the fuel consumption was pretty poor (less than 40 Mpg and dropping) until I was driving down the dual carriageway after about two weeks of having it and it dropped below 20 mpg
