Our most recent review of the 2023 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport resulted in a score of 7.5 out of 10 for that particular example. Carsguide Contributing Journalist Marcus Craft had this to say at the time: The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is a very capable off-road vehicle and it also functions quite well as a daily driver.

Off-road angles: 30° approach | 23° breakover | 24° departure Fuel economy: 24 mpg city | 33 highway | 29 combined Quick take: It’s a capable kid hauler and a solid off-roader with

W ith the inclusion of a third-row seat to its relatively new Pajero Sport, Mitsubishi now has two off-road capable, dual range, three-row 4x4 wagons in its showroom, and they are both Pajeros. It begs the question, why is the ‘old’ Mitsubishi Pajero – so long in the tooth – still around? And can the Triton-derived Pajero Sport step up

THE Pajero Sport stands alone in this company with its ‘Super Select’ 4x4 system that allows the driver to select 4x4 on any road surface, sealed or unsealed, wet or dry, and leave it there. It’s effectively a full-time 4x4 system but you still have the option of two-wheel drive.

How much does the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport cost to run? Mitsubishi claims a combined 8.0L/100km on the ADR combined city and highway cycle. We averaged just over 12L/100km, though that was across a mix of city, highway and off-road driving. The Pajero Sport requires servicing every 12 months or 15,000km, whichever comes first.

Four-wheel drive variants of the Pajero Sport lineup kick off from $49,940 for the GLX 4WD, rising up to $55,190 for the GLS 4WD, and up to $60,690 for the Exceed 4WD. The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is undoubtedly one of the best value off-road seven-seat wagons on the market. It can’t do the tricky eighth seat like a LandCruiser, but otherwise it’s going to have all the capabilities of the Toyota. The ones you’re most likely to use, anyway.
The Pajero Sport is powered by Mitsubishi’s 2.4-litre 4N15 MIVEC all-alloy turbo-diesel that produces 133kW and 430Nm. These aren’t class-leading outputs, but this is one of the quieter and more refined engines in the ute-based wagon segment, and it’s developing a reputation for solid reliability. The 4N15 is coupled to an excellent 8 pTcGy.
